Christmas Comes Early for Handelsbanken and Owen Drew Candles.

The Liverpool Exchange Station branch of Handelsbanken and local luxury candle brand, Owen Drew have teamed up to launch a very special ‘Charles Dickens’ inspired Christmas candle.

The 1843 candle, which forms part of Owen Drew’s new Christmas collection, celebrates the year that Dicken’s launched his most famous novel, a Christmas Carol and the guys have joined forces to bring guests a real taste of ‘Christmas past’ at the official launch party later this month.

The launch event, which will be hosted at Smuggler’s Cove will be a chance for guests to get into the festive spirit early with fabulous themed décor, courtesy of The Festive Decorators, seasonal drinks and nibbles along with the first unveil of the teams highly-anticipated Christmas collection. Most exciting of all, guests will be joined by Dicken’s Great-Great Grandson, Gerald Dickens, who will be joining the celebrations in honour of his famous relative.

Gerald, who is visiting the City in December to perform readings of the famous novel at St George’s Hall (19th / 20th December), said he was delighted to be involved in the launch, “It’s a real honour to be invited to celebrate the launch of this very special candle. I am looking forward to joining the guys from Owen Drew, Handelsbanken and their guests for a night of festive cheer!”

Owen Drew Founder Drew Cockton said that new 1843 Candle is quite different from the usual Christmas candles on the market and guests should expect notes of chestnut, rum, Christmas spice and even coal fire in the new creation.

“It’s quite an unusual fragrance”, commented Drew, “We really wanted to celebrate ‘Christmas Past’ and evoke aromas from a traditional Victorian Christmas – so we can’t wait to see what everyone thinks.”

David McNally, Individual Banking Manager at Handelsbanken said the team were all very excited about the launch. “We’ve been watching Owen Drew’s development with interest over the past year, so we were delighted when they approached us to partner with them on this event. As a local relationship bank, we saw this as a great opportunity to support a local business during a key time of their development”.
